Golf Pride MCC vs Tour Velvet: Which Grip Should You Buy?

Choose the Golf Pride MCC if your hands sweat or you often play in wet or humid weather: it puts moisture-wicking brushed cotton cord under your upper hand. Choose the Golf Pride Tour Velvet if you want a softer, all-rubber feel and mostly play in dry conditions. Both use Golf Pride’s plus-sign texture, and both are sold here as full-bag sets with an alignment ridge (Align versions).

What Golf Pride says about each grip

Tour Velvet is the perfect blend of state-of-the-art rubber and a one-of-a kind plus sign texture for all-around playability.

Golf Pride, Tour Velvet

Brushed Cotton Cord in the upper hand fuses moisture-wicking cotton fibers – ideal for golfers with sweaty hands – with high-performance rubber in the lower hand.

Golf Pride, MCC

When the MCC is the better choice

  • Your hands sweat, even in mild weather
  • You play through UK winters or humid summer rounds
  • You like a firmer, more connected feel under your top hand but still want softness under your bottom hand

When the Tour Velvet is the better choice

  • You want the softest feel of the two
  • You mostly play in dry conditions
  • You play without a glove and find cord rough on bare hands

What about the Align ridge?

Both of our sets are Align versions: a raised ridge runs along the back of the grip so your fingers find the same position every time, helping keep your hand placement and clubface consistent. If you deliberately rotate your hands to shape shots, a round (non-Align) grip may suit you better.

Sizing

Grip size matters more than model for comfort. Measure your upper hand from the wrist crease to the tip of your middle finger and use our golf grip size chart, based on Golf Pride’s official sizing.

FAQs

Is the MCC or Tour Velvet better for rain?
The MCC. Its brushed cotton cord under the upper hand is designed to wick moisture, which helps when your hands or grips are wet.

Which is softer, MCC or Tour Velvet?
The Tour Velvet. It is all rubber, while the MCC adds cotton cord under the upper hand, which feels firmer.

Can I fit either grip myself?
Yes. Both install the same way with grip tape, grip solvent and a vice with a rubber shaft clamp — see how to regrip golf clubs at home.

Do you deliver to the UK and USA?
Yes. Standard delivery is free on every order, with express delivery available — see our shipping policy.
